Our aims.
We want to raise enough money through our events so that the charity can build a community centre in Kitende, Uganda. We are getting there slowly, but we need more help. Shay (the founder & manager of the charity) has lived in Uganda since January 2011, and has faced several obstacles and difficulties, but she has successfully set up a chicken farm, and sells eggs to local businesses to raise money. Recently she opened a small children's centre in the compound where she lives, and is thinking of other ways she can raise money for the development of it.
It would be a dream come true if one day, we could raise enough so that we could have our own separate piece of land with a community centre for the whole village. We would also like to incorporate a health centre and somewhere where education was accessible not just for children, but for adults as well. That's why the project is called Bands For Land - much of the land in Uganda is rented and schools can be closed down at any time. If we had our own piece of land, it would be securely in the hands of the charity. We would also like to be able to provide sanitation and a small agricultural area.
We know this won't happen overnight, and sometimes it is tough but we will get there. We appreciate that times are tough economically for everyone at the moment, but even the smallest donation can make a big difference.
Thankyou.
